The Chicago Trip Pt.2 The Rehearsal CBR 3-21-08

We flew in to Chicago on Fri.3-21-08.The Chicago Blues Reunion as I said are recording a live CD and DVD recorded on Sat.night.On Fri.night there was a dress rehearsal that Joel was invited to.Joel called Harvey Mandel and he told us the place and time.It was a rehearsal hall,as we found the hall it had no address just between two buildings.
As we took an pull down service elevator up to 3rd floor we could hear Corky jamming on the harp,as we walked toward the sound of the band,Joel saw Nick Gravenites on a chair outside the rehearsal hall and shook Joel hand and said good to see him.We went to a 30feet by 60feet room with few chairs and a rug to sit on.The band C.B.R. sounded so good. There were only about 20 people there in the room. They were video taping and some photographers there too.I had my little camera with me.I got some photos and a video of the song "Wine" with Nick Gravenites and Marcy Levy singing.Check out the video. It was also Harvey Mandel's 63rd B-day I think a week before .One cool thing happen that night,Harvey was introducing the band and looked around the room and started to introduce people in the audience,he saw Joel and said he liked to thank his good friend Joel Silver from Fla. for coming up to see the band play.Wow I thought Harvey Mandel thanking my friend Joel and calling him is good friend, how cool is that. What you have here is Nick Gravenites on Vocals and Marcy Levy on Vocals ,Harvey Mandel Lead guitar,Corky Siegel on Harp,Barry Goldberg on piano and hammond b3,Rick Reed Bass,Gary Mallaber drums.Look for Pt.3

The Chicago Trip 3-21-08 Pt.1 to see CBR

Sears Tower

Well my Good Good friend Joel had arranged a trip for the both of us to Chicago to see his friends Corky Siegal and Harvey Mandel and Sam Lay of the Chicago Blues Reunion Band.Sam was not going to be at the show,Sam had another show to do and could not get out of it,after talking to the Chicago Blues Reunion. The Chicago Blues Reunion were doing a live show in a place that holds about 800 blues fans. This show is going to be recored for a CD and DVD. This time in the band are a few changes like no Tracy Nelson or Sam Lay who was sick. They have a great woman singer named Marcy Levy, she has been in Eric Claptons band and co wrote Lay Down Sally and is very nice and beautiful. So both of us got our winter clothes out again.Caps, gloves, long underware ,layers and winter jackets. It was 30 out.We had a smooth plane flight up.Joel is good friends with Corky Siegel,Joel found out that Sam Lay was in the hospital. So on Sat.we were going to see him. That is another part of the trip. When I woke up on Sat.3-22-08 it had snowed and I went out for a walk about 8am to get coffee.I was taking photos and a video which is below and on youtube I will give you the link.It is like when I see tourist taking photo and picking up sand at the beach only I was picking up snow and taking pictures of it.As you can see by noon the sky was a perfect blue sky still it was 32 out with little wind.Well Part 2 coming Seeing the Band, CBR

Little Kids Watching Bands

It always amaze me how kids at music concerts just can stop in there track and just get transform and just love the music. Here is one such .Nighthawks playing and I saw this little kid just come up and watch them play, nobody was dancing he was the only one up front.I thought it was so cool.Nighthawks just jamming just watching them in his own world ,maybe that is what music brings is we get to go to our own world.
The other photos is at The Crossroads Fest in Dallas ,TX sitting on dads shoulders just loving the great music playing.Nice way to rase your kids.
